HCJC is trying to save the old German Methodist Episcopalian church, at the gateway to Davenport's Gold Coast neighborhood. The last institutional building left standing in the Hamburg district. Built in 1858 by some of Davenport's leading citizens of the day including, Israel Hall, C. M. Peck, and the Clarissa Cook family to name a few. One of the last wooden churches built before 1860 in the state of Iowa, one of the oldest churches in Davenport. Please help join us in saving this incredible structure, built at the very foundation of the Gold Coast, Davenport's first neighborhood, Davenport's first, neighborhood church!
